Dawn Baker
Dawn Baker grew up in rural Riceboro, GA, population 750, but she never let her small town roots stand in the way of her big dreams. This Howard University graduate’s journalism career has taken her to the remote villages of Ghana, Nigeria, and Guatemala, where she produced award-winning documentaries on those poverty stricken areas. The WTOC-TV News Anchor has won numerous awards for her work in broadcasting as well as in the community, including: Emmy and AP Awards; Woman of Distinction Awards from Girl Scouts of Historic GA and the NAACP; 100 Black Men of Savannah Outstanding Humanitarian Service; Top Ladies of Distinction Woman of the Year; and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Goodness & Mercy Foundation Citizen of the Year Award. Dawn’s Daughter: Everything A Woman Needs To Know is Dawn’s first book. She hopes it will be the beginning of a movement to develop strong, independent women and girls.
