On Sunday, June 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Union Mission will host a keynote, reception, and book signing with David Ambroz at Messiah Lutheran Church (1 West Ridge Road, Skidaway Island). A national poverty and child welfare expert and advocate, David Ambroz tells a story that is haunting, heartbreaking, and hopeful. After growing up homeless and then in foster care, his childhood experience of homelessness, poverty, and the challenges presented with mental illness will open your eyes through his riveting memoir of A Place Called Home. David was recognized by President Obama as an American Champion of Change. He currently serves as the Head of Community Engagement (West) for Amazon. He has previously led Corporate Social Responsibility for Walt Disney Television and has served as President of the Los Angeles City Planning Commission where he has led the efforts to pass ground breaking policy.
Union Mission presents this event in partnership with Messiah Lutheran Church, Congregation Mickve Israel, Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, Skidaway Community Church, and Skidaway Island United Methodist Church.
This event is free and open to the public. Preferred seating and book signing are available by pre-registering at unionmission.org.
