SBF Children’s Tent

SBF and Live Oak Libraries (LOPL) are pleased to announce the SBF Children’s Tent event, which is taking place on Sunday, February 17 from 1-4 pm in Reynolds Square. The SBF Children’s Tent will feature author appearances, activities and book-signings and is co-sponsored by Live Oak Public Libraries and Live Oak Public Libraries Foundation.

Featured authors scheduled to appear in the SBF Children’s Tent are:

Kwame Alexander
Kwame is a poet, educator, and New York Times bestselling author of 21 books, including THE CROSSOVER, which received the 2015 John Newberry Medal for the Most Distinguished Contribution to American literature for Children.

Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes
New York Times bestselling authors Jessica and Patrick were married in 2012 and were injured during the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Their service dog, Rescue, joined them several months later and inspired them to tell their story of healing and love.

Michael Patrick O’Neill
Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Michael is an award-winning photographer and author specializing in marine wildlife and environmental issues, travleing extensively to photgraph diverse aquatic animals, habitats and man’s impact on them.

Javaka Steptoe
Javaka is an author and illustrator. He won the 2017 Caldecott Medal as well as the Americas Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature and the Coretta Scott King Book Award from the American Library Association for this picture book .

Additional activities include book-signings, celebrity storytimes, music, and arts and crafts for kids. The SBF Children’s Tent is free and open to the public.
