2013 Savannah Book Festival – Book Signing Procedures

The Savannah Book Festival is February 14-17, 2013. Books will be available for purchase and signing at each of the special events at Trustees Theater and at the free events at Telfair Square.

Free events will take place Saturday, February 16, in six different venues around Telfair Square. Books by each of the authors presenting in Telfair Square will be available for purchase at the Book Tent, which will accept cash and major credit cards.

The Book Tent will be open Friday, February 15, noon to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 16, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Literati members will receive a 10% discount.

A schedule of author presentations will be posted on the web site by February 1, 2013 and at each of the Telfair Square venues on Saturday, February 16. Following each presentation, each author will be available to sign a limited number of books per patron. For specific details, please see the information below.

The following authors will be available for book signings

Kickoff Ceremony with Dave Barry
Thursday, February 14, 6:00 p.m. – SOLD OUT

Tickets for the Kickoff Ceremony with Dave Barry are available for $10 from Savannah Box Office. Mr. Barry will sign copies of his new novel, Insane City, following his presentation.

Books will be on sale at Trustees Theater beginning at 4:30 p.m. Signature cards numbered 1-500 will be available with each copy of Insane City at no additional charge, limited to two signature cards per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mr. Barry will only sign books for patrons who purchase a ticket for the event and a copy of Insane City with a numbered signature card. Patrons may bring their own books for Mr. Barry to sign, but a signature card will be required.

Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in groups of 25 starting with signature cards numbered 1-25. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.

A limited number of signed copies of Insane City will be available for sale in the Book Tent on Friday, Feb.15 and Saturday, February 16.

Lifestyle Presentation with Bobby Deen
Friday, February 15, 1:00 p.m.

Tickets for the Lifestyle Presentation with Bobby Deen are available for $10 from Savannah Box Office. Mr. Deen will sign copies of his cookbook, From Mama’s Table to Mine, following his presentation.

Books will be on sale at Trustees Theater beginning at 12 p.m.  Signature cards numbered 1-400 will be available with each copy of From Mama’s Table to Mine at no additional charge, limited to one signature card per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mr. Deen will only sign books for patrons who purchase a ticket for the event and a copy of From Mama’s Table to Mine with a numbered signature card. Patrons may bring their own books for Mr. Deen to sign, but a signature card will be required.

Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in groups of 25 starting with signature cards numbered 1-25. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.

Lifestyle Presentation with Kimberly Schlegel Whitman
Friday, February 15, 1:00 p.m.

Kimberly Schlegel Whitman will sign books at the same time as the Bobby Deen book signing.

She will sign books for patrons who have purchased any of her books that are on sale at the theater.

Books will be on sale at Trustees Theater beginning at 12 p.m.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.

Hoda Kotb Presentation and Book Signing
Saturday, February 16, 9:00 a.m.

No tickets for presentation required.
Ms. Kotb will sign copies of her new memoir Ten Years Later in the Author Signing Tent following her presentation at Trinity United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 16, 9:00 a.m.

Books will be on sale at the Book Tent. Signature cards numbered 1-150 will be available with each copy of Ten Years Later at no additional charge, limited to one signature card per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ms. Kotb will only sign books for patrons with a numbered signature card. Patrons may bring their own book for Ms. Kotb to sign, but a signature card will be required.

Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in order of their numbered card. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.

There may be a limited number of signed copies of Ten Years Later available for sale in the Book Tent following the book signing.

Al Gore Presentation and Book Signing
Saturday, February 16, 10:15 a.m

No tickets for presentation required
Mr. Gore will sign copies of The Future in the church Fellowship Hall following his presentation at Trinity United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 16, 10:15 a.m.

Books will be on sale at the Book Tent. Signature cards numbered 1-400 will be available with each copy of The Future at no additional charge, limited to four signature cards per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mr. Gore will sign copies of The Future for patrons with a numbered signature card.

Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in order of their numbered card. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.

Start Your Morning with Jeff Kinney
Saturday, February 16, 10:00 a.m. – SOLD OUT

Tickets for Start Your Morning with Jeff Kinney are available for $5 from Savannah Box Office. Mr. Kinney will sign one of his books brought from home and any Wimpy Kid books and merchandise purchased at the theater. Wimpy Kid books and merchandise will be on sale at Trustees Theater beginning at 8:30 a.m. Each person who purchases a ticket will receive a FREE 2013 Wimpy Kid calendar.

Numbered signature cards will be distributed on a first come, first served basis upon entry to the theater. Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in groups of 25 starting with signature cards numbered 1-25. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book/merchandise signed. Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentation.

The ticket price is to help offset event costs for the Savannah Book Festival and Live Oak Public Libraries.

Gregg Allman Book Signing
Saturday, February 16, 12:00 p.m.

Gregg Allman will be able to sign a maximum of 300 books at Telfair Square.

Signature cards numbered 1-300 will be available with each copy of Mr. Allman’s memoir, My Cross to Bear, which will be available at the Book Tent, limited to one signature card per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mr. Allman will only sign books for patrons who purchase a copy of My Cross to Bear with a numbered signature card.

At 11:45 a.m., card holders to line up in groups of 25 starting with signature cards numbered 1-25. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed.

Keynote Address with James Patterson
Friday, February 15, 6:00 p.m. – SOLD OUT

Tickets for the Keynote Address with James Patterson are available for $10 from Savannah Box Office. Mr. Patterson will sign copies of his new novel, Private Berlin, following his presentation.

Books will be on sale at Trustees Theater beginning at 4:30 p.m. Signature cards numbered 1-400 will be available with each copy of Private Berlin, at no additional charge, limited to one signature card per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mr. Patterson will only sign books for patrons who purchase a ticket for the event and a copy of Private Berlin, with a numbered signature card. Patrons may bring their own books for Mr. Patterson to sign, but a signature card will be required.

Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in groups of 25 starting with signature cards numbered 1-25. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.

Closing Address with David Baldacci
Sunday, February 17, 3:00 p.m. – SOLD OUT

Tickets for the Closing Address with David Baldacci are available for $10 from Savannah Box Office. Mr. Baldacci will sign copies of his new novel, The Forgotten, following his presentation.

Books will be on sale at Trustees Theater beginning at 1:30 p.m. Signature cards numbered 1-1000 will be available with each copy of The Forgotten at no additional charge, limited to one signature card per person. Books with signature cards will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mr. Baldacci will only sign books for patrons who purchase a ticket for the event and a copy of The Forgotten with a numbered signature card. Patrons may bring their own books for Mr. Baldacci to sign, but a signature card will be required.

Following the presentation, an announcer will call card holders to line up in groups of 25 starting with signature cards numbered 1-25. All signature card holders will be assured of having their book signed.

Patrons may take photographs at the book signing, but no flash photography will be allowed during author presentations.
